Hair extensions are one of those investments you protect carefully. You think twice before swimming, you ask your stylist before trying anything new, and you probably Googled “head spa with hair extensions” before landing here.
Good instinct. Because the answer isn’t a simple yes or no. It depends on the type of extensions you have, and how much you’re willing to communicate before your session.
Here’s everything you need to know before you book.
First, what actually happens during a head spa?
A head spa isn’t a dry scalp massage. At Chandee, our signature 17-step Vietnamese Head Spa involves warm water, professional scalp products, deep cleansing, and extended massage, all designed to reset your scalp and leave your hair genuinely clean and light.
That warm-water immersion phase is where things get interesting if you have extensions. Prolonged contact with warm water and salon-grade products can affect extension bonds depending on how they’re attached. Some hold fine. Others don’t.
So the question isn’t really “can I get a head spa?” it’s “which part of the treatment is right for me?”
It depends on your extension type
Bonded, tape-in, or glued extensions
If your extensions use any kind of adhesive bond , keratin bond, tape-in, glued weft – we recommend avoiding the water-immersion phase of the treatment. Warm water weakens adhesive bonds over time. Add scalp products to the mix and prolonged soaking, and you’re risking slippage or lifting at the roots.
We’d hate for a relaxing session to cost you an extension repair appointment.
For guests with bonded or tape-in extensions, we offer a modified head spa that focuses on what you’re actually here for: deep scalp massage, tension relief, and the neck and shoulder work that leaves you walking out feeling different. We carefully work around the bonds, avoid the water-immersion phase, and ensure you still get a genuinely restorative treatment.
A small supplement of 300 THB applies to cover the additional time and care your therapist needs to plan and deliver the modified approach safely.
Sew-in, micro-bead, and weft extensions
These tend to handle moisture better than adhesive types, but every application is different, tension levels, placement, how long they’ve been in. When in doubt, mention them at the time of booking and we’ll assess from there.
Clip-in extensions
Zero concern. Just remove them completely before your session, let your therapist know on arrival, and your treatment proceeds as normal with no modification and no supplement. Easy.
The 300 THB supplement – why it exists
We don’t add extras lightly. The supplement exists because a modified treatment genuinely requires more from your therapist: a pre-session assessment, careful sectioning around bond placements, adjusted technique throughout, and extra attention to make sure nothing is disturbed that shouldn’t be.
Think of it less as an upcharge and more as the cost of having someone who actually knows what they’re doing take care of you properly.
It applies to bonded, tape-in, glued, and semi-permanent extension types. It does not apply to clip-ins (fully removed before arrival).

Please tell us before you arrive, not when you’re on the bed
This is genuinely important. When you mention your extensions at the time of booking , not on arrival, your therapist can prepare properly. That means understanding your extension type, planning the modified approach, allocating the right amount of time, and making sure there are no surprises for either of you.
Arriving without mentioning it puts your therapist in a difficult position mid-session, and it puts your extensions at risk if they have to adapt on the spot without the right plan in place.
A quick note in your booking “I have tape-in extensions” is all we need. We’ll take it from there.
